This week has been utterly ridiculous. I didn't get a chance to do all the things we talked about. But here they are.

Apparently drawing animals is really hard. They move to much, I can't seem to translate the shapes from 3D to 2D. I took a bunch of pics so I'm going to work on it more in a 2D to 2D fashion so i can gain some understanding. Then I will try it from life again.

I actually finished this book that night but I'll spare myself the humiliation of making my drunken ramblings public.

This is one of my favorites of the week. It's my coat on the couch but i like the relationship of the loose lines and details. I also like that it has a landscape feel as well as still life.

The rest are all the centerpieces from the different tables and Mezzanine. I actually really like the way these turned out.

This is my favorite of the whole bunch. It has focal point, detail, looseness, immediacy, and observation. And it's a little bit odd in a good way. This is what I would like to be able to do every time.
I know I've said I would let go of the 10-a-day endeavor, but I haven't been able to really do that, which is definitely hindering me at this point. Now that I have filled one whole book and almost almost another I think i may be able to do that. Mark was really digging the smoke drawing and wants me to incorporate the drawing and the carbon layers. He gave me some really great advice and encouragement. However, I think I'm going to leave that to the mixed media side of this semester. When I look back to September and what I was hoping to achieve in this class, that process is really getting further away rather than closer. So I'm going to take his feedback and use it for the other class. In here I want to keep focusing on looking. I need to still work a lot more on finishing. So this week I am going to use big books and only do 1 drawing a day and spend more time planning and thinking, maybe do a few preliminary sketches in the book first to study and warm up and then when I feel loose and confident I will make a finished and hopefully lovely piece of art each day. Making wholly successful drawings has happened a few times this semester and it's usually when I have done several similar drawings in a row without distraction. I want to go during the day when I first wake up and find things that truly engage and inspire me. I keep feeling intimidated by searching for that and I have to force myself to push past my inhibitions. I still haven't gone to the train station or the ER or the place by the river that I saw at night that want to find again. I also want to draw more at Lewis Ginter. Hey, wait, I drew there this week, too. In what book? I think the green landscape book, but where is that thing? Well I just found it and they aren't in there... OK found the book they are in, but my camera battery is dead and frankly I'm over this posting right now. Uploading daily is a considerably better idea than weekly I've been working on this posting for several hours. Good night!
